Description

Web Developer (C# and ASP.NET)

Description:

As part of our expansion plans, Listers Group’s New Media team is looking to recruit a web developer to be based, full time, at our Head Office facility in Stratford-upon-Avon.

Working with the senior developers and reporting to the Head of New Media, the successful person will be part of the team tasked with continuing to deliver award-winning, class-redefining websites and tools to maximise exposure, sales and service turnover.

Web Development:

  • You will have a rudimentary understanding of how to create ASP.NET applications using C# or VB.NET. If you’re perfect for the job and haven’t used C#, we’ll train you and help you switch over away from VB.
  • You may have used a base framework, ASP.NET MVC or other foundation layers to help you build websites for end-users. We’d love to see any examples you can show us.
  • You will be comfortable learning by doing, asking for help and guidance from the senior developers where required.
  • You will respond to issues and tickets raised through our systems, finding and fixing bugs through reports that are made over the phone and via the team.
  • You’ll take wireframes and prototypes and, using our pattern library and with help from our designers, develop them into fully working systems, sections or pages.
  • You’ll be comfortable using a database layer or API. You might even have a good underlying knowledge of databases.
  • You’ll have excellent communication skills, both written and verbal.

Additionally, the following would be beneficial, but training will be provided:

  • Some front-end development skills. You definitely know what HTML is, and you’ll be starting to explore when’s best to use JavaScript and when’s best to use a framework.
  • You’ll hopefully have some knowledge of AJAX, JSON and when and where to use asynchronous requests.
  • Experience with source control systems. If you’ve got experience with Git and GitHub that would be very advantageous, since that’s what we use, but having worked with any other source control system will be a bonus.
  • We’re looking for people who want to know more. Are you strictly a Microsoft developer, or do you know PHP, Ruby on Rails, Node and other languages and systems?

In return, Listers Group will offer the successful person all the tools, training, support and the team they need to help develop an industry-leading website. We will offer a very competitive remuneration package including future training and development.

As part of your application, please ensure you attach:

  • The most recent version of your CV
  • Links to a website (or websites) you have developed, with a particular focus on parts that you are proud of having created

Some technical questions will be asked as part of your initial interview to gauge your knowledge and understanding of web development with ASP.NET and C#, and we will ask you to complete a technical test as part of the interview process.
